Born in Kaoshiung, Taiwan, Michelle was raised in New York City and graduated from Wellesley College with a B.A. in English and Latin. Before moving to China in 2008, she was a writer for Slate and spent six years covering business and technology for Dow Jones.
In Beijing, she served as managing editor of beijingkids, an English-language lifestyle magazine for families living in the city.
